Adding Intermitent Wipers to an '85 Pick up

Anyone ever added an original (stock) intermitent wiper switch in place of the speeded switch? I know they sell aftermarket kits but I would rather put in a '86-'88 switch out of a 4Runner or equal. How much is involved and which switch goes in the easiest?

That I did not know. So then I should be able to order the switch from Toyota if it's still available? I think there is also a relay to add? I'll have to check the FSM schematics.

I wonder what the original switch/relay sounds like? Maybe quieter? Very helpful advice though.

yea, i don't think sound deadening was a priority in 85. in fact i don't think comfort was a thought either.

Its very easy to do, i added intermitent to my 84 4Runner. you will need the intermitent wiper switch assembly and the relay box, other than that its plug and play, at least it was for me.

So you did change the relay box? Did you have to or did you plan to do it all along?

For the intermitent wipers you have to add the relay box, its not there if you only have regular wipers, there is a jumper wire that you unplug and then you plug the relay box in place of the jumper, this jumper is located above the computer up by the heater blower housing. its kind of a tight spot to get into.

Wow! Thank you! I was wondering where that relay was! Kinda hard to track down wires without ripping the whole dash out.
