I know this information is out there everywhere. It's my own ignorance i'm sure, but hopefully someone else can relate. I have a 1997 4runner limited with TRD supercharger. I am almost a 100% street driver and looking for a limited slip upgrade to save my right rear tire! Detroit/Eaton recommends True Trak for my application (DTL 913A610) but Summit lists it as up through '95 4Runner. It shows it is for an 8 inch rear. For some silly reason I cannot find a chart or even get the local dealer to tell me what size rear ends are under each generation of 4Runner. Dealer said they have no cross-reference chart between 95 and 96 4Runner rear ends. Come on people! I want the right part for my truck but more importantly right now I would like to know why I can't find what size rear end my 4Runner has. I feel like I have checked in the right places: forums, dealer, general internet search, to no avail. Thanks for any help and pointing me to something I apparently have a mental block in finding.

 

It's good for street, but they don't last long. I'm on my 3rd one now and the last one didn't go 10,000 miles before the bolts backed out and it wiped out the entire third member (housing, R&P, bearings & the TT to the tune of $1300.)
Eaton (the manufacturer, not Detroit) refused any warranty.

 

I think Detroit acquired Eaton this January. Thanks for the heads up. What year is yours?

ok just got my truetrac installed part used is for the v6 8" rear end. confused cleared!

I had a true trac in the front of my wheeling rig for a while 84 toyota on 35's. I loved it. IMO they are by far the best of the best LSD. Especially compared to the clutched ones that get hot and quit working if you spend a day on the trail. It's not a locker, but I'd say its 65% of the traction. With a little touch of the brakes it will damn near lock up. I beat the piss out of it too. broke quite a few stock birfs (solid axle cv joint for you ifs folks) with a 180K mile 22r if that give you and idea of how well it transfers torque. I not a single issue in the couple years I had it.

This thing is awesome. I cant lose control. i was making sharp turns at 45-50mph and usually i get a lil rear end whip so i would need to countersteer to correct it but this time i dont need it. Its basically pretty hard to lose control! Launching from a straight line from an angle and in wet is improved little to no wheel spin just faster launching. Merging on to ramps with hairpin turns freaking nirvana! Definitely transforms your street runner into a entry level rwd psgr car haahaha.

this is alot better than throwing your money into headers.

Im using redline 75w90 in it. Buy 3 qts for it. It has additives according to the bottle but no additive is necessary since the truetrac is gear driven and has no clutches in it to grab.

 

the Third in your runner should be a 8" third with 4.10's (for manuals) MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFY THAT IT IS AN 8" and NOT A 8.4". Big Difference.

Inchworm Gear can build you a complete third with True Trak--> send it out to you-->you slap it in-->send back your third-->Minimal amount of down time--and they get them built fast.--they should have one to build for you because i just sent them back mine.

I also posted a gear ratio chart for everybody to look at-->(Search under my screen name, then go to the one that says its howling really bad). compare that to your model number and bada bing--done deal--it will cost you about $1125
