Ok...looking at a few options with ride reports.

Those using LC coils on the rear who are approaching 3-4 inches have used the following with these results so far:

LC COILS with LC OME shocks (N71E) - report - "a bit stiff " but the coils are being used with spacers too.

LC COILS with LC stock rear shocks - report - decent ride on and offroad, not sure if they limit flex.

LC COILS with N86 OME shocks - report - works well, but limit flex of the coils.


My problem is, my 4inch pro comp front lift may or may not exceed what I get out of the LC Coils I am planning on installing, so I may have to consider a rear 1 or 1.5 inch spacer depending if I end up having front end rake.

Anyone else care to share their LC rear coil experiences and shock combinations?

Have you tried to really flex out the rear? Do the shocks max out on extension limiting your flex ?

 

I have the LC Coils with N86's. Ride is realllly soft, probably because both the shocks and springs were heavily used. Flex seems to be limited by the shocks. . here is a pic from this past weekend:



That is just about completely flexed

 

I recall steve schaefer saying th at stock LC shocks are about 4 inch's longer than the OME shocks for a 4runner, so i do not think they limit your rear flex.

 

I am running the stock rear LC shocks and have been able to flex out the rear pretty well.

 

Stock LC shocks are the way to go. Anything longer and you're gonna have serious issues with the driveshaft interfering with the gas tank skid under full articulation of the rear. I have contact problems even with the stock LC shocks, but my gas tank skid is far more mangled than most.

 

I got this info from another guy...

Stock 80 series shocks are 13.5 x 23"

13.0" and 21.2" lengths from OME's

So by looking at this the LC shocks look like they should be the best bet with 4-5 inches of rear lift. I guess at this point I will begin my search for the best price in OEM LC shocks. I might see what happens with my N86's too...since they are pretty new.

i would say that they flex pretty good, i also dont have sway bars.

 

For the record, yes, my rear end is very stiff, yet, does not cause any problems with flexibility. Just on-road driving sucks once in a while when you can feel a lot of the bumps in the road.

My main concern is to find the correct shock for a long LC coil to avoid any premature damage to the shock upon compression/flex.

if you run the LC shock, you need the upper mount washers, there are 2 per side.

 

The shocks i have are the same part # as you listed (48531-69486) aka the 1995-1997 stock LC shocks.

To prevent from over compressing the shock, you need the extended bump stops that Steve sells http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_su...ump_stops.html

 

does anyone have any tips or tricks when replacing the rear shocks ? Im getting ready to do this, and looking for some ideas to make this as easy and painless as possible, oh yea, we will be replacing the springs at the same time. I do have a 1" bodylift, Im sure that will helpout.

 

I have the '97 8 wrap 19" LC coils. is this what you have combined with the N86 OME shocks?

 

I'd be interested to know what year LC Coils you guys are running. When I initially called the Stealership to get price quotes for the LC Coils with part numbers from Sonoran's site, they didn't know what I was talking about! I guess Canadian part numbers are different from the US ones?? Must be metric over here or something! LOL! JK!

im using skyjacker nitro 8000 shocks cause they where like 70 bucks shipped for the 2 they seem to be just long enough
