everything is cut off and grinded smooth.









84 axle to be installed.....

got the hanger welded in the front and sides but not the back..tried looking in the back but the radiator is blocking the way of the crossmember.



i decided to use a shackle hanger instead of drilling a hole in the frame. welded it solid. shackle kicked back a bit for a little softer ride on the chevy springs.




picture of my homemade hanger made from box tubing and really thick guage galvinize steel. grinded the galvinized coating off before welding it together and then welded it onto the box tubing.



picture of my front axle setup. everything is hanged and welded. just need to torque everything down then start making my crossover steering and start on the rear.

Dang that truck is gonne be tall! Then again, that's how you guys on Hawaii roll...

What are your plans for the rear?

 

Those rear shackles look like the angle is too great to prevent it from hitting the frame. Had you flexed it out before deciding on the angle? Great project. I like the homemade crossmember in the front.

 

OMG, just my .02 but I predict a cement truck ride, sailboat like stability, and kia like flex.

 

Um... wow. 3" longer shackles, 10" springs, 3" body lift. You must have at least 16+" of lift on that thing now!!! Out of curiosity, why not use the shackle tubes through the frame model?

 

damn... tall. doesn't look too bad though. might want to plate the ends of the hanger though. and that shackle angle should be fine. that's about where mine is and it doesn't hit the frame. and i'm through the frame with the shackles...

 

the shackles arent going to hit the frame. checked it out already.i got 10" chevy fronts in the rear, with 2" blocks. im thinking of taking the body lift off after i do the dual shock hoops and headers. still debating. also thinking of using the frame tubes, i dont know, i just wanted to be different and weld the shackle hanger to the frame instead. still doing some mods, but ill see when i get the tires mounted on and t-drive it.

 

Look good... but I agree with others... I think youll go past center on those shackles. With the springs as stiff as they are it will take a good thump or attempt to stuff, but it looks like the springs only need to get 1" or less longer to allow the shackles to go past center. Your hangers look to be about 3-4" forword of the thru the frame point, thats a long ways....Thats about the angle I had when I first tried my hangers on my rear leaf swap on the 95... it went past center with me pushing on it, but the springs were much softer....

 

so will it be ok for now? ill probably go through the frame later on. but if i have to move it, ill move it sooner. thanks for the coments and suggestions. i really appreciate the help. i would be lost without these forums and guys like you.

 

I would go out and find a ramp and drive it up that.... if it doesnt go past you might be alright.... if it does i would move it sooner than later... at least its a perch and easier to move than a hole in the frame

 

so what will go past center? im kinda confused.... for now, ill be using the truck for onroad use only. as far as offroad use, ill be using it in a few months after i regear the front and get a new driveshaft. thanks
