Well, you could have searched. Just click on the yellow blinking word up to the left there. Here's a good thread to get you started.

Correct my if im wrong, but isnt the deckplate mod and ISR actually a "cold air intake"?

Since you didn't mention the year/make/model, I will assume 5VZFE...

Just do the elbow and ISR mod together. Pretty much the same thing and you won't have to spend a bunch of $$. I suggest cutting the elbow so it will draw in air from the fender well. I believe Bob has a write-up in the tech section.

Don't all these trucks inhale from above the fender well? Stock "cold air" intake. Do any of them take in air from inside the engine compartment?

i guess that depends on what year... the 2nd gens and pickups (non taco) pick up air from around the front drivers side headlight. If all the proper ducting was in place it would pull more "cold" air in than air from the engine compartment.

Yes most trucks do, but there is a 90 degree bend, hence the elbow removal mod. Once the mod is complete you have more air available from the same place (the fender well), which means more power due to less of a restriction. The ISR mod increases throttle response.

The deckplate introduces hot air into the engine which can make tuning even more of a pain for us SC'd guys. That's why I switched to the elbow mod.
