Since you didn't mention the year/make/model, I will assume 5VZFE...
Just do the elbow and ISR mod together. Pretty much the same thing and you won't have to spend a bunch of $$. I suggest cutting the elbow so it will draw in air from the fender well. I believe Bob has a write-up in the tech section.

i guess that depends on what year... the 2nd gens and pickups (non taco) pick up air from around the front drivers side headlight. If all the proper ducting was in place it would pull more "cold" air in than air from the engine compartment.

The deckplate introduces hot air into the engine which can make tuning even more of a pain for us SC'd guys. That's why I switched to the elbow mod.
