How to tell if rear leaf springs are worn

Was just wondering if there was any way of telling if the rear leaf springs were worn. The ass end of my toy is sagging a little bit and was wondering if the leaf springs were the problem or something else. The truck is a little lower in the rear.

They're supposed to have a slight upward arch if you look at them from the side. If you don't see any arch, like mine, your springs are worn and you either need to get new leaf packs or have them re-arched.

If your rear is ok and the front is jacked up to much, just loosen (ccw) the torsion bars a little bit at a time to lower the front. I'd loosen 2 or 3 turns at a time and check.

Watch your bumpstop clearance and make sure you don't get any less than an inch or so. If you are already at an inch or less then I'd say your rear has to be sagging.

Yeah, I just looked at the bump stops and the upper bump stop has about an 8th inch clearance while the lower has a couple of inches. If I were to change this will I need a front end alignment again or not?

Peace,

By-the-way, thanks for the replies.

I guess the tortion bars being cranked on explains why my rig beats the hell out of me in the back country off-roads. lol
