tryign to keep the mud out

ok about a month back i bought a 87 4runner sr5 with a brand new motor (not rebuilt) with 202k and 300mi on the motor. I drove i and waited for my buddy to get his truck goign so we could do some wheelin. Well as i waited the clutch went out and as i found out whoever had it befor had put in a cheapo clutch and the disc was comign apart. Fixed that easily becuase i have a lift and tranny jack here. Then i was ready to go. My yota is stock except for some 31 mud terrains on it. We went out to some easier stuff and and of course it did fine. I went through one mud run abotu 50 ft long and about 1 ft deep thats it. But when i got back it was all up in the engine compartment and everyone knows how much fun thta is to clean.

Well after looking closer i realized the gap guards suck for one and the whole underside of the truck in the front where the skidplate is pretty much open.
So i went down and bought so heavet duty plastic. Somethign like rubber floor mat. And i am proceding to make better gap gurds and try to fill some open air underneath.

Anyone else ever have probelms with stuff flyign up under the hood?
Ill post soem pics in about 30 minutes when i finish

If you know anyone that does roofing the rubber roofing they use works great for making them. What i used on mine. Been on there for 2 years np. Also bought new push in retainers at Nappa with about a 1" head so they don't pull thru easy.
Good luck.

Yeah, I prefer to think of that as not an option
