I just finished replacing the radiator, fan-clutch, and water pump.....

Everything went pretty smoothly. I went to start the car back up and :cry: no dice. It cranks but nothing happens. Not even coughing or starting to start.

What could have happened? I had a magnatized ash tray (for keeping hardware together) sitting on top of the intake.... did that mess up the HFM or something?

Where should I start looking?

You probably forgot to hook something back up.

Distributor plugged in? In the future, it will be helpful if you let us know which engine you are talking about.

Sorry about that! Its a 3VZE.

I never unplugged the distributor as far as I know. Does it often come unhooked when working around that area? I've gotta be missing either fuel or spark and taking the distributor out of play would certainly eliminate spark.

Did you unplug the AFM? Check the EFI fuse. Are you sure you didn't mess up the timing while doing the water pump?

I didn't purposely unplug any of those things, but they are certainly worth checking.

I am 95% sure I didn't mess up the timing as I only purposfully moved the crank when I was taking the fan off and putting it back on. Wouldn't it try to start or at least cough a little if the timing was off? I'm really getting nothing but cranking when I turn the key.

Oh you replaced the water pump huh, didn't you have to take off the timing belt to do that? Did you disconnect the cam position sensor?

Well I'm completely clueless. The only possiblity that I can imagine is that maybe a pulley moved a little bit while the timing belt was off, throwing my timing off.....

I'll check it out when I get a chance, but what would it be doing if the timing was off? Wouldn't run rough rather than not even try to start?

I've got current to the distributer and I can smell gas in the tail pipe after I crank it. Thoughts?

I still suspect a problem with the VAFM. Has anyone replied about the magnetized ashtray left on the intake during the fix? I would be concerned that it may have affected the AFM negatively.

I don't think it's your timing because your truck would still start.

I think the water pump or something around it is the culprit. Retrace your steps to the best of your ability. Take a good look around that general area of the engine and see if anything's missing.

AFM doesn't have computer programing! I would say yes, of he had left it on the ECU! AFM is just a circuit board and flap!
