isr mod: would pvc pipe melt?

Ive been reading over the isr mod writeup and Im not sure where to buy materials and where to get metal piping.. I went to pepboys and they dont even have the damn hose nor the T to use.

Im kinda straped on where to get my supplies but as for doing the mod Im pretty sure I get what to do.

I was thinking of using pvc pipe as my connector where the stupid IS was.

I went to a muffler place and asked for a scrap piece of piping. They have a whole lot of them laying around after doing daily muffler installs. I then used a hacksaw and cut it to size, used a dremel to clean up the edges, used some Krylon "hammered" metal paint. Then I spent a few dollars at Auto Zone to get 3" radiator hose clamps and used those instead of the original IS clamps since those were flimsy - ISR mod complete.

As for the tubing; not necessary if you have the nipple on the plenum. Just attach the hose that was once on the IS and put it to the plenum. It's that simple.

I have also heard of people using the grey conduit piping from Home Depot and painted that black. It really is an under $20 mod. Good luck,

hmm grey conduit piping.. where would that be?

I couldnt find the right size pvc as they only have 2 inch and 3 inch diameters.

Want to get this done as soon as possible. I hate looking for materials..

Its in electrical in a home improvement store like Home Depot or Lowes. Its called Schedule 40 conduit. If you go to Lowes, I'd bet its cheaper, and its on aisle 6. There ya go.

IIRC it's 3" OD

I am going to use some SCEET tubing
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/sceet.php

This stuff is relatively inexpensive, and has the excellent thermal characteristics.

I think 2.6 or 2.5 od is what I need or anybody else.

oh you have a 91.. it could very well be different in sizes.

What do you mean it won't fit? I used a 2.5 exhaust steel pipe and it works great. Remember, get those hose clamps instead and you can tighten it all the way down.
