I just got a 2" body lift on my '95 4Runner( w/ manual tranny) and I'm not satisfied. I want to go another inch or two higher. I'm rolling on 32" BFG's on 15" rims. I do not go off-road. I have the following dumb questions:
-what's the most inexpensive way to get that extra inch or two without having to make alot of mods?
-are coil spacers the easy fix, keeping in mind of possible rubbing of the driveshaft on the gas tank skid plate(so I heard)? And would they be easy to install myself?

Am confused, why are you lifting at all if you stay on roads...?

Crank the torsion bars and get HD springs in the rear, or coil spacers. I'm not a second gen guy though, so wait to get some info from them.

 

Heck I say just get used to it.. I have 32"s stock.. I only need about a 1" because of the recent low profile bump stops I installed... Let it be and live with it. (hey, got photos??)

I am going to be puttin a 1" in before I go the Paragon this summer..

 

2" is all you can go with bodylift before you have to worry about steering shaft spline contact, shifter to floor clearance, and/or fuel filler neck legnthening. 3" is the highest practical ammount of BL because of the stress on the bolts that hold body to frame.

That leaves suspension lift. Be sure to get a panhard rod drop bracket to minimize driveshaft to tank contact. The options are tortion bar crank for 1.5 inches, or 3"-4" bracket type front suspension lift. Bracket lifts are way too expensive for what you get IMHO. But to each their own, right?

 

If you really wanna BE cool, get a master's degree.

If you wanna just LOOK cool, I'm reluctant to recommend anything other than what you have already done, meaning body lift. The coil spacers may be about all that's left before you have to do a suspension lift, and that's too expensive to do just for coolness. You could get 3-4 inch body blocks and take out your 2" ones, but you will definitely have issues making your shifter and steering connect, which is also expensive, and then you'd have center of gravity problems. If you KNOW that you will be off roading, and you have the extra cash after your Harvard tuition is paid, then you would be better off getting the suspension lift.

 

Thanks for all the responses. After asking around at a couple of the off-road shops, the popular solution was to get coil spacers for such a minimal lift. I ordered $150 Downey spacers (1.25") to be installed Friday.
