some how it just doesnt seem worth it to build something that complicated when it just doesnt "cost" that much just to buy it.

i mean who wants to build there own microwave, or TV set or MP3 player from ground up?!?!

I'd have to agree, even though I have the knowledge to build one, Why? Granted the parts might be cheaper, but the labor to assemble it would negate any savings.

For an EE capstone, its cool and gives bragging rights. Otherwise, kinda pointless. I got my tig for less than 1/2 retail buying it used.

Right, but your labor is free for you, thus you save money. I mean, if I added in my own labor charge into everything I did, it would be a lot cheaper to pay someone else to do it.

Very cool! Good work!

Very good work. Variable frequency and balance, very cool. The features make it equivelant to the Miller Dynasty series units (which start around $3,000).
