? found during head gasket replacement
After I took the intake manifold off i noticed that 5 of the six ports in the heads had carbon build up and the other one was very clean. Why would 5 have carbon and the other be clean? The clean one was for cylinder #4, not sure if that makes a difference or not. '94 3.0 engine

The only problem with the water idea is that my head gasket is not blown. When I bought the truck the guy had just had the gaskets replaced. Little did I know that the gaskets were installed wrong. I figured this out this winter 'cause I didn't have any heat and when I went to change the thermostat I found that thermostat had been gutted to keep the truck from overheating. As soon as a thermostat was installed it would overheat. I went through and replaced the water pump, flushed the radiator and tried several different temp. thermostats but nothing help, so thats why I'm tearing it down and doing the head gaskets myself.
So any other thoughts on the clean head port?
Someone told me maybe an injector leaking problem??????

could poss be an injector leaking down. Did you have any kind of hard start after sitting? BTW..if you are tearing your heads off to do the gaskets again. If he didnt do a valve job before.....do it now. Have everything pressure tested and surfaced by a good machine shop
