hahaha you make me laugh, but seriously tho i dont think its nice enough to pay that much for, maybe try buying some rubber floormats, clean up the outside, and lets see the vin on this so we can check it out, its probally not worth 3.5

I fail to see where you're going to get 6k for a vehicle that has had a new front end put on it.

Dont let everyone discourage you. The cost always is based on the location. In my city a 2nd gen 4Runner with like 200k km can be for sale for close to 6-9k CDN depending on condition, and they are eventually sold. Go to a bigger city and thats no longer the case. But a few suggestions to move it quicker would be to detail it..wax , shampoo etc. Also remove the bull bar and lights on it (or paint it and put on 2 of those hellas), do something about that red toyota logo, and paint the lower valence a "bumper black". A few small things but might help it go faster. All the best on the sale and a bump.

I thank you for supporting me. I know there are way way way better 4Runners out there than mine, and for way less. But from where I live, I am not kidding; these things sell pretty much the day they hit the trader. Some stay on for awhile, but most of the ones that anyone would take one look at and think it looked good, immediately jump on it and put a down payment, so noone else can snatch it. I prob won't end up selling it to someone on here, but here in Phoenix, I bet I can get at $5K for it. When I get more serious about selling it, I'll prob clean it up(prob this weekend). I don't think it'll look much better though, since the paint is already kind of faded. Which may turn some people away.
Here's the story again:
I had been looking for about 4 months in the autotrader for a 4Runner. Every week or so, a new one would come up for sale in the range I could afford. I would call that night, and they would say "Already sold". And it was the first day it was listed. But then mine showed up, and it was at a local small dealership, and they don't sell as quick there, so I called them up the day after it was listed, and no one had claimed it yet. I was so excited, and I called my parents, and my dad called them back. This was all on a Wed., which was the day before Thanksgiving, which was my Birthday also. The guy said they were closing early that day, and we couldn't make it. So he said no one would come by then and buy it, so we waited till friday, and got there as soon as the doors opened. We immediately decided we wanted it, and took it for a test drive(my dad did, since I didn't know how to drive stick yet), and he said were buying this.

Not that you wanted to hear this very very long story, but It was an exciting 3 days, and shows you how fast these thing sell around here. Any 4Runners usually listed for around $6K and higher, usually take about 2-3 weeks to sell here. Now with a story like this, you might think why would I sell it then? Well, it was a good first car, and later in life, when I have a full time job, I'll for sure own at least one(maybe save the vin on this, then later try and track it down). The time has come for me to get something else, with a little more power and same reliability as a Toyota(which means a newer Toyota, since nothing seems to be as reliabile as them).

Now back to the price, I do have some wiggle room, but I just wanted to start it at $6K, to see what I get. I'll prob only do pickup, and I live in the Phoenix area. I would trade for a T100 that has the 3.4L V6 and is 4WD, preferably the Xtracab.

ANYONE?
If you're interested enough, I can give you the vin. But only if your interested. $6,000 OBO.
Don't forget, I might sell it locally or decide to keep it a little longer. Right now I'm trying to find a 1995-newer T100 perferably xtracab, and 3.4L Manual or automatic. Mileage isn't a huge concern, as long as it runs nice. If the body is a little rough, like scratches minor minor dents, just stuff that would happen if you wheeled it lightly.(no rust though) Don't care whether it's been cleaned or waxed. May trade.

Interested

looking to buy a 4runner.i live in phoenix too. I disagree that they sell for 6k though. Go here to confirm 89 yota w/ crawler gears and SAS and 160,000 miles for 2500 in phoenix az:

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/car/130572454.html

Bottom line your runner blue books at 2700 in fair shape. That is plugging in a phoenix zip code. Good brings 3000. The 3.0 L was a problematic engine too. If you'll sell in this range pm me.

I bought my '90 last July for $5K and it had the 3.4 swap already with brand new tires, rear detroit locker, header and exhaust and a detailed interier...spotless! There's no way you will sell yours for $6,000 or $4,500 for that matter. 4Runners sell fast here in SoCal but NEVER at that price.

IF I was going to sell it I could sell mine $5k, it would be sold tomorrow. No kidding. I already have a buyer IF I was selling. I have considered it to buy something that is built already, but I enjoy my 4runner too much right now and it's not my main transportation so if it goes down I'm not out my ride to work.

Dude -- I live in the same city and I can assure you there's no way anyone other than a sucker with poor impulse control is going to pay you any where near $6000.

Run it through KBB or Edmunds to get a reality check. If you want more than the private party listing, I'd recommend you at least sell the mods like the roof rack and lights seperately.

Good luck.

Ed

Yeah I know I probaly won't get $6K for it, but I wanted to start it high, to get a high bid. Like I said, I'll prob list it in the trader, but you never know. When I bought mine, there was like 4-5 pages of just 2nd gen's for sale, and there was like 3 in my price range(low). The rest were all at like 4500-8000. The ones for 8000 or close to it were the 95's with the limited pkg, but some had like 180K on them. I guess I would say just post what you would give me right now.

The T100 i'm looking at is less than 6K, so I was hoping to list mine at that, just to see what would happen. I really wouldn't sell this thing if it had a more powerful engine. I could do a swap, but I don't know how long that takes, nor do I have the knowledge/tools to do so. If you Phoenix people know of some places here in the valley that could do such a job with 4Runners, (and fairly cheap)let me know. But I really just want something more powerful. Do you think putting the 3.4 in the 2nd gen is enough? Where I live, it sucks with these things, and I'm sure all of you know how slow these things are. There's nothing but hills where I live, so having power to get up hills everyday would be nice, otherwise, I go up hills in like 3rd gear going 45+.

How much do you guys think the stuff on the outside is worth? I can tell you right now the lights are at least $150, but the two middle aren't hooked up right now. The two on the fron are ? brand, and the bar is just a normal bar. I was planning on removing the rear tire carrier, and placing the license on the rear tailgate. And put the spare in the rack. Then get a 4" lift from somewhere cheap. Everyone I know says not to waist money on this car, since it is my first car, and they think I should get something else.(cause everyone in this town is filty stinkin rich, and there parents go out and buy them new cars).

I checked that out, and says it's an 86. But also says it's a V6. So if it's an 86, then it has a swap.

Think mine compares to either one of these? Maybe if I washed it, then took some pictures of it. Think it would be better?

I have personally sold 4 Toyota's here in Phoenix. The advice above is right on the money. I don't need to say anything about the asking price, as you have already been given the proper advice about that.
