How to fix the passenger seat?

89 4Runner (1st generation). The cables are broken that control the passenger seat. What do I do?

Or, does anybody have a pic of how the cable routing should be? Thanks.

They turn up on ebay once in a while. I'm going to make a new set for mine. Not too hard to do with some patience and the right tools.

$30 at a dealer, I think. Or buy one from the vendors on the board. Just follow he old routing and it'll be a 30 minute job.

When the cables came apart (this was before I owned the truck), they must of just "gutted" the seat (it has been kinda "boogered" back together) since there isn't much left to follow. The seat is in real nice shape, but not much left for cables. Also, this seat is more "complicated" than the drivers seat.

Some of us need directions for everything!

And as for turning up on ebay, what should I type in for my search words? Thanks again.

I got one at a dealer.... new is good. cable is easy to route, iirc its a y shaped cable, with the two tips of the y actuating the release mechanism on each rail, while the other end goes to the lever on the side.

You're right..........it is a "Y" shaped cable. One of the ends (the tip) came off. I stopped at the dealer today and he said in order to get me the right part he'd need the VIN of the vehicle.

I'll take him the VIN tomorrow and see what he can come up with.

Thanks a lot.
