Add your "lighting" links here so we can get a nice FAQ going for all kinds of lighting...even if it is a link to something here on Yotatech...or otherwise.

Thanks guys. One "centralized" place to send folks for "general" lighting questions (FAQ) or a place that they can find easily on a search will be beneficial for us all I think.

just a tip, you can run the wire from the middle pin on the switch to one of your head light fuses in the fuse box under the hood. its easy, protected from water, still functions correctly(LED in the switch lights up when you turn your headlights on, the lights turn on when you flick the switch etc.) also, the hella 500 wiring diagram doesnt show a ground from the switch, you need this is you want the switch to light up.

Switch:
earth ]-ground wire
load ]]-wire to head light fuse
load ]-wire to relay

Just a little more info here that someone might find useful. When I did this for my Tacoma I got some miniature 3 position toggle switches from an electronics store and made a plate to mount them near the radio. The switches are ON-OFF-ON type. I ran the common wire to the rear light relay as already discussed here, and ran one of the N/O pins to battery power, and the other to reverse light power. This gives the option of rear lights ON, OFF, or AUTO (come on with reverse lights).

I did the same for my driving lamps in the front, but took the high-beam wire to run the "auto" function. Only difficultly with that arrangement is the DRL on Canadian vehicles use the high beam at 1/2 power, which would cause my driving lights to come on.

Aux lighting with HI and LOW beams

how to wire them with relays? Must it be with 2 relays? one for low and the other for Hi?

the bulbs are H4s.

Is it possible if I want a main power switch, and another to control the low and hi separately?

I got a stock fog lamp switch(with indicator bulb), which I plan to be the main switch. What type of switch should I get to control the hi and low?

what gauge of wires should I should? lamps are 60/55w

first im going to say i have no clue how this site works and dont know how to just post my own things....so with that being said my dashlights are out. Tailights work and no fuses are blown...i took a testlight to the back where the lights all are and it seems to be getting power to them. none of the bulbs are burnt out. i have a feeling my dimmer switch may be bad since when i turn my lights on my clock goes dim and when i turn the knob nothing happens, but when my lights are off its bright again. Will i still be getting power to where the bulbs are even if the dimmer switch is bad? and is there a way to test it? took a test light to that also and im getting power from two of the wires that are connected and not another. also the lights around my a/c and temp control stuff wont light up either. im asuming thats connected somehow. Im a just a girl that needs some help!!!
