all pro disc parking brake kit question

i bought a allpro disc parking brake kit from a guy who rolled his yota, only thing is i did'nt notice till after i bought it that it was set up for a cv type rear driveshaft and yes i have a regular ujoint style shaft. i'm thinking of just redrilling the rotor, but if i screw it up, the thing is junk, any other ideas? or do you think i should just go for it. i could find another shaft at a boneyard but dont know if it will fit my runner. i would just go to allpro and try to trade the rotor but it was never installed and it has some rust on it so it definately does not look new. thanks for any ideas....

Pretty easy to re-drill the flange. Just move the rotor over to your existing flange and use those holes in it to align the drill for the new holes, drilled 45 degrees offset from the old holes.

Are you planning on going SAS in the future? Could be one of those things you could take care of now. But redrilling isn't that bad...the AP brake is awesome!

Or you could add a rear CV to your driveshaft...I did on mine...much better...and I have the AP kit you are talking about. Works great, you just have to get it adjusted just right.

Check his sig, '85 4Runner, solid axle is in place.

Used to be the only one in our SD crew, now he's got some competition.

Im just fashionably late. I'm in the final stretch though. & I think Deathrunner has the d-shaft e-brake as well.

Dude, I have the E brake as Proffesor Phalanx noted. It's gggggggggggggreat!!!

Took very little time to install.

The only things that took extra care were:

A) Welding the dustcap to the shaft after installing the rotor. This was highly recommended to me. If forget from who, but it seemed really important at the time.

B) Cable tension and arm positioning. There are two positions that the brake lever arm can be set to. And my old parking brake cable was longer than the kit is designed for. So I had to get creative with setup. A new pbrake cable would have fixed it, but with all of my ridiculous mods, who's got that kinda dough?? So I got some cable clamps and hooked it up. I think Wabbit was the one who told me that you want the arm pulling at about 90 degrees for maximum leverage, so set it up that way.

I used to pull for 5-6 clicks to set the brake. Now I can only pull 2-3. I found a steep incline by my house, pulled the brake and put it in neutral. This bastard holds real nice. You'll like it. Plus it looks so cool, you'll get bling points.

Grr. I've always wanted one of these yet there's no "kit" for my X-fer case, All=pro sells the 'basics', but I don't think there is enough clearance, and I don't have a welder to custom fab a mount.

(sad panda)
