Is it possible (safe) to put blocks in front just like u can in the rear instead of buying add a leafs or new spring packs? Just wondering I have an 85 ext. cab 4x4.

blocks anytime is unsafe, they are even worse on the steering axle... i would never put blocks on a front axle..... save up a few bucks and get some cheap front springs

 

This is a big resounding NO! Blocks on the front are incredibly dangerous. Don't mess around with that.

Blocks on the front axle are actually illegal in some states, including Washington.

 

NO NO NO NO Please dont do this in theory it may seem like it will work but in reality it will be potentially bad if not fatal.

i was wondering the same thing.

 

Besides the obvious safety issues, there is no room with stock steering. Add even one extra leaf to the spring pack and the drag link will likely bind up in the u-bolts, BTDT. I run a spacer that is welded to the driver's side spring perch on my front axle to level it with the passenger side perch:



With it welded to the perch and to the additional bracing added to the perch, it is in there fairly solid.

 

With a bit of searching, you should be able to dig up the old threads that those pictures came out of. His pal was swearing up and down that it was perfectly safe and no amount of flaming by people who knew better was going to convince him otherwise... He was really proud of those.

 

I wouldn't know what to search under. Custom lift maybe?
