Body stripe glue removing?

Anyone have an idea on what to use in removing the glue that held the factory body stripe. I had no problem removing the stripes with a heat gun, but it left patches of glue behind. I've tried laquer thinner (makes it slightly gooey), WD 30 (works a little better with massive rubbing), and reheating with the heat gun (makes an unbelievable mess). Any suggestions??

Hey Dublin;

When i removed my badges from my truck I used actual 'adhesive remover' I think the product i used was made by 3M. It just melts off the glue and doesn't harm the paint at all!! Just let it soak a bit!!!
Good Luck

Yup, I used the 3m stuff and goof off......they worked great. Just let them soak a bit before you go to it with a rag.

It's called 3M Woodgrain And Stripe remover. It's available at most body shop supply places and good auto parts stores.

3M stripe removal tool. Works like a big eraser. Takes off the stripe and glue. Finish off with some goof off and rinse.
