i had a buddy who broke his shock mounts while wheelin, and he said it was really unsteady and the axle would move around when breaking... but it was a beater truck with mulitple other problems, so i dont know if its ALL shock related... it seems like it would be scary tho. from a physic point of view the shock is a damper for the spring and the sping will osloate ALOT more undampered. i dont remeber all of that physics lab but it was a crazy amount more.

that's true... Hm... I'm buying some stuff from Yotaman and he still has the stuff that I'm buying on his truck and can't find his stock shocks. Problem is, I live in Cali, he lives in Georgia... I would send my shocks but my 4R is my DD and I believe his 4R is also HIS DD... what to do... what to do... I don't want anything to be unsafe... so, if it's not something that could work temporarily, then... I'll scratch the thought.

I drove my 4Runner with 8" of lift with soft leaf springs with no shocks for a week or 2. So your stock truck can handle it. It was definetly different, but you just have to adjust your driving style accordingly. Don't take turns at speed. Thats the biggest problem. You will not "bounce around" but rather float around over bumps. And a lot of nose diving upon breaking.

Go down to Napa and pick up a cheapo set. Should be able to cover all 4 corners for $50... Small price to pay, hell thats a tank of gas nowadays.
