e-locker factory safety disable

hello, i just finished the e-locker mod found in the tech write up zone done by Hoss? anyway i have a 97 ltd 4wd with the locker (duh). anyay i grounded out the blue/red wire like it said and all was well. then i started the truck and the 4wheel drive light was on and 4wd was engaged. i coulldnt get out of 4wd and when i tried to enable the locker, the locker light just flashed indicating that it couldnt be engaged. i ended up just reconnecting the wires back to normal and it works fine now. has anyone had problems with this mod before? or am i just missing something obvious? thanks

this may help

**edit**

heres a much better link:

http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-...oma_locker.htm

you must've grounded the wrong wire.

**2nd edit**

heres phongs write up, but it contradicts the other one...so i have no idea which is the correct wire. BUT, they both say the #8 wire, so whatever color, im guessing the #8 one is the correct one.

I followed the write up by Hoss also and didn't have any problems... Try just engaging the e-locker first without putting it in 4WD-- it is suppose to work in this mode also--there is a little trick to it to get it engaged-- first you have to be driving under 5 mph you may know this already... just a slow roll and then turn your front wheels either left or right a bit and you should hear the locker engage... I had the same problem at first where the locker light just kept flashing and not engaging...as soon as I turned the wheels it locked instantly and RR light remained on-- then try it again with 4WD engage...

Let me know how it works out for you...

well i read the other write up and i am sure that i used the correct wire, but i figured maybe the bolt i used wasnt a ground so i used the exact one that offroaders link used and still the same problem. it automatically goes into 4wd and i cannot get out of it, and the locker just flashes.

Did you ground the correct end of the wire that you cut?

I did the same thing when I did the mod; I think you might have grounded the wrong end.

That was the first thing which came to my mind, make sure you ground the wire going to the locker control box at the drivers side wheelwell.
