Peek-A-Boo Snorkel Custom UPDATED
What you need, One Safari Snorkel Head, Two 45 Degree angle PVC Adapters, 1 90 Degree PVC Adapter, One 6ft length of pipe, Grinder, Sawsall, Welder, Steel, Caulking
Here is what I have put together so Far for my Custom Snorkel Installation
More pics to follow as they come
First off you need to buy the Safari Snorkel Head, You can buy JUST the head for $80 Canadian.
After you take off your Fender, you will notice there is already a hole in the Frame, all you need to do is enlarge it a bit to fit both a 2" PVC Pipe and the Wire loom threw.
Cut a hole in the air box and fit the Pipe into the box
Heres a Pic Of the Piece that goes into the air box
Attached to the 90* Elbow
In to Air Box
Next mock the pipe up where you would like it, You will need to cut the outter part of the fender and weld a plate in. for strength.
Heres the Cut.. sorry bad pic
Heres the mock up of how the pipe will Run. You Will need to do what BruceTS did in this thread https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f123/10-snorkel-system-25167/ to get the fender linning back in properly Thanks for the Tip Bruce.
.
Here's the PVC Pipe all bent and the piece that goes into the airbox attached
Here is How I bent the PVC Pipe. I heated up the plastic with a tourch, (Just keep turning the pipe, and bent it over an old rim.
Next Cut a Hole in the Fender. THIS PART IS SCARY,

Okay and here's the finished product.
I still need to bend the top a Tiny bit more. But Im fairly happy with it.
Notice I replace the Ghetto Trim I used in the first stage of my build.
Ill post some better pics tommorrow.

I tossed the K&N Cone filter where it belongs (The Trash Can) The Truck actually RUNS better with the snorkel (I think the K&N Filter was sucking in to much Hot Air for the engine bay) and the truck Idles better and Im getting better MPG.
The Trim I used around the Hole in the fender is the handle from a Winter SNow Brush, Im still looking for a piece of black trim... Trip to the wrecking yard is in order I think.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh okay, I see now.
Someone else had a homemade snorkel and I remember they told me they never had water go in either but the design didn't look like it could avoid water. I was just wondering if there was any other part of the overall design where the water could drain out.
Thanks for the info - learned something new today

Dont trust their claim 100%
A friend of mine with an ARB snorkel found water in his air cleaner box after driving through a heavy rain. He has since turned his intake head backwards.

Thats what I would do I think, turn it backwards. i'm not sure at what rate air enters the enigine as a matter of course, but i would think that with it facing forward in the rain on the interstate, you'd be forcing wet air into filter and engine at 75 miles and hour. this is obviously not correct though, or there would be fewer snorkels

I think i was the previous guy that told you that. Still to this day I have yet to have ANY drops of water in the air box, I even faced it forward on the highway during a HUGE rain storm, and nothing. I used about $20 worth of drainage, and plumbing hardware from the hardware store. Ive had the snorkle for over a year and there have been no problems, (including visibility).
heres the link to mine.

I did similiar to mine. Due to some tight trails and not wanting to replace the pipe up every other weekend from hitting trees and/or tipping over, I ran mine straight back. then did a 90 degree turn into my cab and it is right above my fuse box. When my little 4 banger is revving high on the highway and the windows up if can drone pretty bad but 95% of the time I have my doors off anyhow and its not a problem.
$15 for mine.
$15 for mine.
