What transfer case do I have?

Is there any way of finding out with the VIN or year models?
RF1A or VF1A or is there another one for the '95 3.0?

and tranny?

For your 95?
Manual trans should be a VF1A chain (shifter on top - no shifter linkage)
Auto trans A340H should be a A340H hydraulic (cannot be separated) w/ADD
Auto trans A340F should be a VF2A chain (shifter linkage on side) w/Manual Hubs

Did it have factory ADD or factory manual hubs?
Far as I know for the 95 the only autos were
Auto trans A340H w/ADD
Auto trans A340F w/Manual Hubs

Look at the transfer case for the linkage to the lever - if it's on the side then you have the A340F trans. If no shifter linkage (electronically controlled) then you have an A340H. I think....

I have the ECT button... does that tell you anything?

I think it is the A240H, which is one unit, right? The Tranny and transfer do not come apart?

The Easiest way too tell them apart are the A340H has 2 sump pans on the bottom.
The A340f,e have only 1 sump pan .
The A340f e etc have the ect button also.
