3VZE Gas Mileage
I'd just like to see what kind of gas mileage you guys with the 3.0 v6 get. I'm curious because I looked at a post that most of you get about 200-250! My 4Runner has always got over 300 on a tank, usally about 320 an it's dry.
But lately I have had varying gas mileage and a noticeable loss in power. Sometimes even as I drive I can feel the engine get slugish and then later I can feel it come back "alive." It isn't that noticeable but I can tell. Also sometimes it will run through serveral tanks of gas before I feel the engine run as is should again. Also when it is doing it's sluggish crap, it will run fine in the open looped first cranked mode, but as soon as it goes into closed loop it gets sluggish. Then there will be several tanks of gas that it runs great and gets gas mileage as it should. Anyone else notice this?? It seems to be a vacum device or maybe a failing sensor(temp?) Also I have put a new toyota O2 sensor so it's not that.
Forgot...mine is a 5 speed and I put manual hubs on it.

I have a 93 manual 4wd with auto hubs and a stock suspension for about two more weeks. Right now i am getting about 300 miles per tank if I drive nice and no jackrabbit starts. This is also the case when traveling and staying about 70mph too.

14.4 mpg around town stabbing the throttle like a lead footed mental patient.
20.8 mpg for a 150 mile trip today....
4900lb 4runner 3vze, auto. How much mpg would I gain by taking out the 600lb sound system? LOL

oh don't say TPS, it checks good and all it does is tell the computer if it's off idle.

On my '94 P/U, with auto tranny, auto hubs, 31s and 4.88s, I can get about 260 give or take, without A/C and about 90% highway driving.
With A/C, same highway usage, I can get about 240 give or take.
This is all from Full until Empty - usually about 15 some gallons.
300 a tank would be a dream for me.

Just checked it last night. 19.4 mpg with a new O2 sensor and 2oz of acetone per 10 gals on a mix of town and highway. My engine is using a little oil though and I think I'm getting due for a bottom end rebuild. I don't think it's as strong as it used to be. I'm not sure whether the acetone is helping or not, but I'll try it a few tanks and then stop to see if there's a difference.

That stuff will melt rubber - O-rings, gaskets and such. I would cease
IMMEDIATELY. I work at a Boat Manufacturer - you ought to see what it does to the tools that we use.

3vze gas mileage
Hey guys I have been signed up for a while but just now posting. I saw the post already for this subject but I am still new and not sure how to navigate the website to add to the previous post, so I apologize for that. Anyway, I have a 1991 Toyota pickup manual 4x4 and just recently replaced head gaskets. I did the work myself. The truck has a 3" body lift and 33x12.5 all terrains from previous owner. I did the math and I only averaged 129 miles out of a tank with about a 1/4 left. I understand the tire size is ridiculous for this motor so that definitely plays a factor. I plan on replacing the tires with smaller but I feel like I should have gotten more out of a tank, even with those tires. The driving was mostly highway. Brand new plugs in the motor. Could I have a vacuum issue or does that sound about right for that size tire? Anyone out there ever run that big of a tire on this motor? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

GUITAR27, keep in mind that if you are running larger tires than what it came from the factory with, then your mileage readings will be a little lower than the actual distance you are travelling. So you are probably getting a little better mpgs than that if you are just going off of what your trip meter says. If you look online you can find tire size calculator/conversion tools that can help with this. Other than that, have you checked on other maintenance items like if your air filter needs cleaning/replacing? Fuel pump going out? Tires inflated right? Are you letting it idle for long periods of time, especially during cold starts?
