86 4Runner low idle, throttle cable too loose?

I just had a rebuilt 22re put in my 86 4Runner DLX at 203,000 miles, it seems to ilde really low at times. I noticed that the throttle cable is really lose and has alot of slack. I pulled it tight to where it was supposed to be and it idled alot better, smoother, well I guess my question is how do I tighten the throttle cable to fix my idle, or do I have to get a whole new cable? Thanks

Did you adjust the idle air screw at all?

I dont believe that the tightness of the cable should actually set the idle speed. That is what the air screw on the throttle body is for. You really just want to take the slack out of the cable so you have instant response.
