New Video Card

Got a new video card and so far this thing is just ..... WOW!!!

This thing is so long I had to move the harddrive just to get it in the case. Also need at least a 400 watt power supply. It takes one power dongle. So far can run everything maxed out in the games and the DVD palyback is very clear.

Haven't overclocked it yet but will try it when I have time.

Was quite a jump from a nvidia 5200.

Very nice.....do any research before buying?....I see its a Geforce, but I dont see NVidia anywhere, I've been out of the graphic card loop for a while...is it still an nvidia card? Also I'm curious why you chose this over ATI cards? Better benchmarks, more affordible?...

Reason I ask is I'm looking into building a nice rig soon, and I like getting everyones outlook....

Looks good. An aside, I upgraded my Dell XPS w/ATI 9800 video card drivers using the ATI Catalyst drivers and measured a 15% improvement in 3D benchmark tests. Pretty good for a free upgrade. No problems or glitches, and more configuration options than the OEM suite.

Yes I did. I went with a combination of price, performance, and benchmarks.
I have only had on ATI and had dirver issues. Never had any issues with Nvidia based cards.

This one was less expensive than the ati x800 Pro. Also ATI has only 12 pixel pipes to render video and nvidia cards have 16 pipes.

So, basically just personal perference.
3 year warranty, too.

I have nothing against any of the high end video cards, but I got this one at cost through a local computer shop.

I have been pouring over the threads in 3 different DSL Reports forums about PCs.

Here is a 6800 GT post.

Here are the 3 forums.

PC Gaming Tech

Hardware

Someone in one of the above forums mentioned the 6800 GT had a little bit better score than the ATI 9800 Pro.
Both are great cards.

I have the ATI 9600 Pro, and even that card rocks in games.

I will be upgrading to probably the X800 by ATI later though.

After two days with the new card I really like it. I see things in the games I never saw before and there is not as much jumping. So far I am very satisfied.

But I still suck at first person shooters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
