Spark plug wires,, aftermarket (autozone's best) OK?

Searching didn't really answer this question.

My personal experience with aftermarket wires didn't turn out well. My friend at the Toy dealer said that Toyota's engine burns up aftermarket wire really fast. Mine where toast in a 1.5 yrs on my 93 Corolla.
Any thoughts? I'm doing the 60+ tune up on my new 98 4runner.
I am going with stock plugs, Wires?, how about a cap and rotor? Not there?

Thanks
Lance

I ran through only two sets of $40 Accels on my Eclipse in 8 years of drag racing and the underhood heat from the turbo was harsh but they held up well. I had a set of $75 Magnecores on for 4 months before they started missfiring, total overpriced crap.

NGKs are pretty popular here. And reliable. Beck-Arnleys are crap. As are "Xact". I've had two sets of Beck-Arnleys seperate on two different trucks.

Unfortunately, they no longer offer anything larger than 5mm for the 5VZ. I e-mailed them a couple weeks ago. They said they could not keep making the 7-9mm wires fit into Toyota's 5mm clip. So, those that already bought 7-9mm wires from them for the 5VZ are lucky.

I figure if that's the stock size then unless your were SC'd then why go bigger? Most people on this board just use OEM stuff.

Ohduh, just noticed your one of the lucky SC'd guys. :pat:

When it comes to ignition components on our engines, OEM is the best way to go.

You don't have a cap and rotor (distributorless ignition). For the wires, I'd just go with Toyota OEM.

Thanks for teaching a noob about the distributor less ignition and all the advise. I do love the search button.

I really need to get a Haynes book for I was looking under the hood and under the truck trying to familiarize myself with it. But it was cold over the weekend.
