What do you prefer?
I've heard alot of good things about the AM Steel but haven't heard much about masterpull.

X-Line has a much better resistance to temperature as it doesn't start breaking down until temperatures of 900F have been reached. The others aren't that heat resistive and tend to break down around 284F and some as early as 150F and WARN says there winch hubs can easily reach 300F. Read the article below.

I own and have pretty abusively used Amsteel. It works all right and the price is good.

I will likely buy Masterpull on the next go just to try something new. It has a breaking strength of 5k or so more than my Amsteel, better heat and UV resistance (alledgedly), but also has a bigger price tag.

After some investigation, Yale Cordage makes the line, Ultrex, and it lists for $1.20 per ft. Sounds like a ripoff to me. I am getting more info from them about the specs.

EDIT: It may not be the Ultrex after all. She is looking now.

I think that was group buy price.

I got mine from Rockstomper, he is one of the view to deal in Amsteel.

Aim for 85 ft of 3/8's. That is going to be more than 140, but worth it.
