Just got MagnaFlow installed on 3.0...
...and quite frankly have to say I'm fairly underwhelmed. I wanted it to sound like Corey's 3.0 (and others who have it installed on the 3.0), so I got the MagnaFlow muffler #11225 (2.25" in and out, 14" long). It seems to have the same tone as I had expected, however not quite as much roar under acceleration as I remembered in the videos here on YT.
Any ideas of how I can remedy this? The only thing I can think of is that they gave me the wrong muffler or the pipe from the muffler to the tailpipe (which they had to replace) is somehow stifling the sound.
Any thoughts?
Thanks so much in advance.

Yeah I'll definitely do that...I just verified that it is the 14" muffler and the part I ordered so I guess we'll see what happens. I'm even willing to drill holes in it if need be to achieve a louder sound.

I have the 11225, and mine sounds louder on video that while sitting in the truck.
Have someone drive off in your truck, so you can hear it from out of the drivers seat, it sounds ALOT better. I was suprised when I first heard the difference.

It also gets better with age
I love the sound of mine so much that now with warm weather here, I drive around town with the windows down all the way.
The sound of it is rad.
I get looks all the time from other rigs that hear it.

I don't have a tip on there...should I?
BTW- I'm feeling a little better now about the install, it seems that I am definitely breaking it in as sometimes it is loud and others it is not--we'll see what happens in a few days.

A tip can be used for a number of things... fine tuning of performance; fine tuning of sound; radically changing the sound; appearance only.
My point was that if you did have a tip on there, that could/will contribute to your pleasure/displeasure with the new sound of the rig. There's another thread around here that started out much like yours... A few messages in the posted noted that he had a tip on the pipe. He replaced the tip with something less restrictive and was a happy camper.

OK well after two weeks I'm still relatively surpirsed at how non-existant the sound is.
As far as a tip is concerned, as I have said, I don't have one. Who with the MagnaFlow has one and how can I explain it to the muffler guys so that I can get one similar?
Also, I noticed that they only replaced the piping from the muffler back. Should the pipes from the engine to the cat and from the cat to the muffler be replaced as well and if so, what size?
Also, should I get a different cat or is this irrelevant to the sound/loudness factor?
Thanks for your help.
