I recently put a rebuilt 22re in my 85 4runner and returned the old one for a core. The engine shop said I left two collars with the oil pump that should have gone on the new engine. I don't want to put these on if it's not necessary-very time consuming. Does anyone have any input about this?

 

What I think they are talking about is the oil pump drive sleeve. And yes, you need it.
