CALLING 2nd Gen'ers w/ Bumpers & Sliders

I really searched, I promise. (some of you speak in tongues) I'm taking a welding class and I want to build a bumper or sliders. I new to welding, but my instructor said he would help me if I FUBAR the operation.

That said, I was wondering if any of you would (pretty please!) provide me with the dimensions and/or drawings of custom or "paid for" bumpers/sliders for a 2nd gen. I would prefer drawings, but beggars can't be choosers! Also your opinion of what I should tackle, Bumper or sliders would be appreciated as well.

I was thinking 2" tubing all the way around for a polished look. However, I'm very open, nary, encourage suggestions.

Thanks

that may or may not help you out.

for the mounting brackets , you may have to take the specs directly from your own rig, such as the space between the frame rails.

Exactly, Thanks! Do you have any pics? I looked on your site, nice system BTW. I didn't see any of the bumper.

I'll have to get a picture of it and post it.
Un fortunately my Puter is down at home at the moment, so it will more likely be Monday.

Try www.larsdennert.com and look under the 4runner page for custom sliders. It's a good design, and simple.

Check my website for pictures. I'm rebuilding my toolbox carrier though, so don't copy it.

Sliders would be an ideal first project as dimensions don't have to be exact. Just make the mounting legs long and trim them down when you go to install them. Once you tackle that then move onto the bumper's more difficult mounting brackets.

I'd agree. Plus if you're going to build in a hitch to your bumper, you don't want it to fail on the freeway.

Rob - Thanks. I like that design, and he has a really good write up to boot.

Shane and Steve,
Thanks for the input. I will put the bumper on hold for now, it only makes sense.
