Yota1 3vz crossover delete

https://209yota1.com/products/3vz-3-0-exhaust-crossover-delete-kit-1988-1995/

I have purchased this kit. Doesn’t come with the pipes. I will get my local fab shop to knock it out. Expensive for block off plates yes. Cheaper than headers … yes.

Ordered today. Will report back.

Here is the add. Which looks great. But the pipe is not included.

Yeah, you've got a lot of exhaust fabrication ahead of you. Here's wishing you can weld better than whoever did the work in the video.

How many headgasket failures have you had in how many miles?

In the time I owned the truck… one. Don’t want to do it again. Very expensive. A swap is very expensive. This will not be expensive. I debated on lc engineering headers but they don’t make the crossover either any longer and I get no answer on calls over there and no reply to emails.

Pipe bending and welding will be done by my local muffler shop.

Should be fun.

I sometimes wonder if all this angst concerning the cross pipe is not caused by baseless internet lore. I can tell you that after 214k miles, my #6 valves and HG looked fine, on a bone stock truck. The HG was replaced early in the truck's life under recall by the dealer. I pulled the heads to remedy a burned exhaust valve because the original owner never adjusted the valves, again, after 214k miles and 26 years. You may be spending time and money on a problem that doesn't exist.

They got it shipped out 2 days after paying.
Went by my muffler shop and showed them the parts and video. Install price … 180.00

I’ll update for anyone who looks into this.

Interesting diagram. So the crossover tube goes into the manifold ? Here is a question …. Would my replacement passenger side pipe also go into the manifold with the gasket around it ?

In the video it looks like it stops at the plate and the gasket goes into front ?

I plan to get into this project tomorrow

Hmm. I could try to go by memory, or from some old photos I tried to take, or look at the same FSM you're looking at. But what might work a lot better is to find someone who has the cross-over already taken disconnected.

I will say that removing the 6 nuts was a real challenge. No room at all. I would guess that Toyota never expected anyone to try to remove the cross-over while the engine was sitting on the mounts. All I did was replace the gaskets. I don't think I would do it ever again, but if I did, I'd probably spring for a set of those ratcheting box wrenches with the swivel heads. They might help.

How are you planning to do fit-up? I can't imagine anyone trying to bend custom pipes to fit, unless they had the vehicle right there.

Oh, reinstalling the new gaskets and the 6 nuts was even harder. At least I knew that my cross-over fit perfectly.

I planned to leave it with the exhaust guy tomorrow.

The truck is not my main means of transportation so I don’t mind leaving it with the guy a few days.

I’m wondering if headers might be a lot easier to install and fab up the rest of the pipe from there.

Having the standard helps a lot with clearances

This was my solution to the cross pipe: Link

Of course they were a lot cheaper when I put them on in 1995!

Neat solution. I would have made where they connect a Y, instead of a T for better flow, but not bad on a budget.

Does it sound any different?

no major sound difference to me. I already had the magnaflow cat and muffler on there for some time.

I thought about the Y vs this T attach point.

Way I figured it….. before it was pushing forward on the back of the head as it came out of the crossover so this is at least not working against the flow.
