I plan to upgrade the interior of my 89 DLX pickup. Last year, I got an instrument cluster and clock from a 90 4Runner. And last week, I grabbed seats, center console, and seat belt receivers from 92 and 93 4Runners with blue interiors that match my truck. Strange thing is that these two 4Runners both had mismatched seats. Each had one full-cloth seat and one vinyl-and-cloth. Fortunately, the full-cloth seats were driver in one and passenger in the other so I grabbed them.
I have already scheduled reupholstering. In the salvage yard, my eyes were drawn to the center stitching pattern. But as you can see in the pictures below, the stitching pattern on the sides is slightly different. I can’t imagine the driver seat would differ from the passenger because it has the back wing adjustment (not sure what that is called). So, these must be 92 and 93 seats. I don’t think it will be noticeable once reupholstered. Just want to know what I got. Thanks.
A related but different hack to know: You can swap the seat cushions between driver and passenger. That'll double the life of your foam if you don't normally have passengers!
The only thing I can think of is to remove the plastic trim on the side of the seat bottom. There will be a part number molded into the plastic. It won't tell you exactly what year and model, but it'll help narrow it down quite a bit.
Trying to do it by the fabric alone will be hard to research.
The driver's seat appears to be a "sport" seat, while the passenger side does not. But that's just a guess based on the one photo
I think the frames and foams will be the same underneath. I’m curious to know if they are not. Post a photo of the finished product please.
Yes, the frames match except for the driver side seat and back adjustments and the underside of the foam also match. If the foam topside doesn't exactly match, I'm hoping the upholstery shop can tweak it. The shop is booked so my seats are scheduled for mid-May. I'll post a picture of the finished product.

The upholstery shop's initial inspection said the foam was in good shape but this is good to know.

Thanks for the tip. Here are the part numbers from the plastic trim:
Driver: 71812-89112 LH (door side), 71862-89102 L (console side)
Passenger: 71811-89111 RH (door side), 71861-89101 R (console side)
Searching for the door side part numbers, I found both on Toyota Parts Deal and the driver seat had the Manufacturer Note 'W(SPORT SEAT),GRAY,TRIM1#' so you were right about the "sport" seat. But what is a sport seat? This driver seat has lumbar adjustment, a knob on the seat back that adjusts the back's wings, and a knob that adjusts the front of the seat's height. Would a passenger sport seat have the same adjustments? I'm glad I found a nice driver's seat. Just trying to understand what I have.
No, in vehicles with "sport" seats only the driver's seat had lumbar and bolster adjustment. The passenger seat construction was identical, though, just lacking in these two features. By identical. i mean the more pronounced bolsters, or wings, on the seat back, along with the seat bottom having that same lift on either side.
Sport seats tended to "cradle" the driver in their butt and sides, where as the regular, non-sport, seat you kinda sat on top of.
The foam would be different between the two, but you can modify foam.
For parts research try Amayama.com or EPC-data.com. the images and info you get is virtually identical to the old microfiche we used in parts depts bitd.
If you have a truck, look under "4Runner" on their site for your vehicle. If you have problems finding info lmk.

Thanks for clarifying the sport seats. That is very helpful. And thanks for reminding me about the parts diagrams at Amayama.com and EPC-data.com. I had both sites bookmarked but haven't used them in a while. I am using them right now to learn about the center console and shift bezel parts I grabbed from the 4runners.
I got the 4Runner seats back from the upholsterer and installed them in May. The upholsterer said the foam was in great shape. Here's what they look like before and after the installation.
I think they turned out great and that driver side sport seat is oh so comfortable. So much nicer than the original bench seat. So what should I do with the bench seat? It's in great shape as you can see from the picture below. The fabric is faded but has no tears. Does it look original or has it been reupholstered? I don't know how to ship the seat so my only thoughts are to list on craigslist or ebay with local pickup. Any suggestions? What is the bench seat worth?
Those came out super nice looking. From a shop in Wyo?
The upholsterer shop is a small husband and wife operation in Idaho Falls. They also covered the center console lid because the only one I could find was gray. They did an awesome job.
Now, I just need to find a new home for the bench seat.
