Bucket seat swap

I have a '94 XTraCab with 60/40 front seats. I'd like to install bucket seats. Can anyone offer info as to what other year trucks are a bolt-in? Do 4Runner seats fit a pickup? TIA

Rick

There are an variety of seats that will fit. I got mine out of a 1994 or 1995 sr5 4-runner. I had to bend and tweak some of the brackets, but in all it wasn't too hard. If I were you, I would check junkyards for seats. That's where I got mine and they are great. $50 for both and they are in excellent condition.

My 96 Tacoma originally had the same 60/40 front seat. The drivers side is the 60. I removed the stock driver's seat and installed a bucket seat. http://www.performanceproducts.com/P...producttype=20 The mounting bracket was a bit tight, but it fit.

I then added a center console that fit perfectly between the new bucket seat and the original passenger seat. http://www.performanceproducts.com/P...producttype=20 The model that fits the Tacoma (and probably the 4Runner) is Console 2: 24"L x 8"W x16.5"H.

115,000 miles later, I'm still happy with this setup. It is the most comfortable drivers seat I've ever had. The only drawback is that the bucket seat doesn't move forware very much, so my girlfriend has a difficulting it. She's a few inches shorter than I am and can barely get the clutch in. On the plus side, the new console has much better cup holders than the plastic ones that pop out of the dash.

When I get a digital camera, I'll post some pics.

Seems like I've heard that Toyota MR-2 seats fit in the trucks. Not sure on that, but may be worth checking into. Hear they're pretty comfy (sp?).

Have fun.

I was wondering about the same thing. I went to a local Toyota/Lexus dismantler www.nix99.com here in WA, and I couldn't believe that they wanted like $500.00 for a 95 4Runner driver seat! I am going to order the Corbeau Baja SS seats from my local Corbeau dealer. They are like $165.00 ea and I am going to fabricate my own adapters to fit the factory tracks.

Not too sure about the newer cabs, but as long as seat mounts on a bump in the front and flat in the back they should work. You might have to use some shims if you take sports car seats becuase the driving postion is different. Should be four bolts and a few washers

That might be a good thing after reading the thread about the wife that likes to wreck Runners.. Do you guys think this seat stuff would apply in a 1st Gen. My brother hates his seats says they are toast.

Shane,
Now that you mention it, TAP did scare me away the last time that I was there. I am from California (Hell)

Yep, she avoids driving the truck at all cost. Of course, she feels differently about the new 4Runner. :-)

i recently put seats from a late 90's nissan sentra Se-R,they fit fine after a bit of hacking and banging,I was able to use the nissan tracks and the seat belt bolt to secure them in,I have a 95 regular cab,the seats are more comfortable than 4runner seats i think. Just one more car that'sa possibility if you local yard doesn't have many toyota seats left.

Making 2nd gen 4runner seatbelt latches (?) work in 89 pickup std cab

In process of swapping out bench. Buckets came out of 93 runner limited. Want to use 4runner seatbelt latch. Needs to be mounted to hump in the middle of cab. Theres a factory cutout in place that appears to have been factory sealed. Doesn't appear to have existing factory threads to attach bolt. Can I simply drill and tap? Any suggestions from people who've done this would be appreciated. Searched everywhere online with no luck. Brackets on underside be better? I'd have to get a longer bolt to do this.
