My door glass separated from the manual lift on my 86 pickup. There is a metal u shaped piece that holds a rubber u piece that grips the bottom of the glass, It separated. If i can buy a new rubber piece, I think it will go back together. The original is hard and cracked. I deep dived on the parts lookup and I am not finding a part number. As it might be clear, I am not a glass guy. There may be a correct term for part that grips the glass. I found one thread on the forum with this separation issue, but they were able to re use their grip.
Thanks for the part numbers, I was able to use the part number 69901-89108 to research the problem. I found this: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...runner-216063/ Looking in to this pn: 69971-89103. It is not entirely clear, but the new number may be too short for a non vented window. I suspect the new part, 69971-89103, that is described as filler, may require adhesive also.

From this dealer site it says that new part number 69971-89103 is for a "without vent" door.
You might want to add in your vehicle to confirm. I just did a quick part number search on my 86 2WD trunk vent window, so it saying not fit make sense.
My truck is a JDM Hilux Surf (pretty much identical to the US market 4Runner except for the steering wheel location) Mine also has the metal U channel with the rubber filler. NO adhesive is used in the factory - it's friction fitted.
You need to remove the channel from the door - it's held in by 2 boltswhich are accessible when the window is wound about halfway down. Slide the rubber filler onto the base of the window, then slide the filler and window into the U channel, then reinstall it all.
If you don't have the triangle vent window, the part number you need for the rubber filler is indeed 69971-89103.
Hopefully your U channels are in good condition. Mine were very rusty (probably why the glass fell out) so I had to find good condition second hand ones as Toyota don't make them anymore.
Thanks for the info. I tried reattaching the old grip and the u channel to the door glass using silicone grease with the glass in the door. I am waiting for ideal weather before attempting to remove the glass from the door since I am working outside. I am thinking of using warm, soapy water instead of silicone grease as it might be a better approach. I'll have to see how tricky removing the door glass is. I have already applied the silicone grease to rubber/felt u channels to try to avoid future separation issues.
Finally I had some ideal weather and I jumped back on this project. I pulled the glass out of the door and the outside piece of weatherstrip came loose. As was mentioned the trick to reinstalling the rubber filler and metal u channel is to slide it on from the side. It started as a slide, then I had to tap the metal u strip repeatedly to get it all back in the proper position on the bottom of the glass. Now, when I try to roll the window up the outside weatherstrip comes up with the window. I am guessing I probably need a new piece of weatherstrip. It isn't exactly clear what keeps the weatherstrip attached to the door. I need to lube the weatherstrip on passenger side with silicone grease now that the warm weather is here.
