how hard is it to install the glass on the drive side door. I locked my keys in my truck and with the window open slightly, i tried to pull it out just enough to press the unlock button. Well the glass shattered on me. I found replacement glass for $50 locally from one of my resources. If you guys can give me a little insight, i would appreciate it.

 

Not too hard. Everything on a Toyota door unbolts, meaning the isn't any stupid rivets to drill out. Take the felt trim off the door and it makes the job much easier. There are holes in specific locations on the door to take out the two bolts holding the glass in. you have to crank the window up or down to get it in the right position. Glass should come right out the top through the outside.

 

Once its unbolted, pull it up slightly, tilt the front down, the back up and pull it out, it will come out on the inside of the door. Installation is the reverse of removal.

 

So what you guys are really saying is, clear all of the shattered glass, unbolt what remains, vacuum it up and slide the glass through the top.

This may sound dumb, is there any special location that the window regulator has to be in.

 

Not a stupid question. There is actually. With most cars, you have to plug the window switch back in once the panel is removed so you can position the glass and regulator accordingly. You'll probably have to line the regulator up with the holes in the door structure itself. Once you see it, you'll understand.
