Im in the process of putting a straight axle in my 93 Ext cab V-6. My question is whether or not i can use rear leafs for my swap? ive gotten people telling me yes and no. Is the motor just to heavy? i have 3 sets of rear leafs layin around so it would make life much easier if its possible.

Yes you can. You will need to beef up the spring pack because of the weight of the 3VZE. I did just that originally using a 2nd gen rear spring pack with 6 leaves and a rear 1.5" AAL. Didn't get me nearly enough lift to clear the 37" MTR's that I wanted to put under the truck. I also had problems with the draglink and tierod hitting before reaching full compression. I rotated my steering box forward and got a flat pitman arm but I scrapped them and ended up getting AllPro 5" springs all around and am completely happy especially since my 2RZ swap with a 3RZ 2WD T-100 rear sump oilpan.

i ran tg springs with a leaf from a rear pack added to stiffen it up. it soakes up bumps better now without hammering the stops and i also used my 4runner rear coil bump stops in the front instead of trail gears concrete ones, they are alot softer and you dont feel it bottom out anymore. ruf's will be a little soft with a v6 but you said you had a few packs so why not make a bastard pack to suit your needs just dont make it too thick or it wont clear high steer. if i were you and i was in your shoes a year ago i got an ifs eliminator from scottyC from addicted offroad for a good price cheaper than the website and it came with everyting i needed down to brake lines and shocks

 

X2 on a kit being cheaper in the long run. I peiced mine together for other reasons. Also depends on your fab skills. If you've started the SAS and are just now thinking about this your better off getting a kit.
