tailgate window will only go up, wont go down unless i press the button like 1000 tim

tailgate window wont roll down, i can sometimes get it if i mash the button like 1000 times, but here is what i have done so far. Direct power to the motor- works both up and down, bypass the wiper motor- no change. Messed with the console switch- gauge lights went out now, but still no change, slight corrosion noted but cleaned, no change. I can notice the draw when i press up button lights slight dim, no dim for down press but can hear "click" towards the rear. Bypasses lock safety switch, no change appears functional and still shows "back door" on dash. Im pretty much at a loss now, my next step the relay? Also, noticed window lock doesnt work, when i get the down to work can still go up and down regardless of window lock on console, but window lock on master switch does work, also key in rear door is the same, up works but down wont, same click noise but no movement unless i do it like 1000 times. Please any help will be great, also anyone have an idea about my dash lights? seems weird!

That does seem a bit odd. However until you get a better response I think I'd suspect that relay. (I meant switch). Mine is a 95 but 91 probly real close.
I'm in the process of adding an extra switch to mine so I can operate without key from inside the rear. Like if I was camping or such.
And assuming I ever get it put back together.

If you don't have schem's, the realy is in the L Rear area behind that storage locker. Takes a bit to undo but to quickly rule out connectors you could apply proper polarity to the pins in the first connector on the relay. That will test your connections on the next three before the motor. That switch up on the center console actually goes thru the relay with some internal smartness that activates coils apparentlly.
I can't locate my EWD right at the moment to specify which pins. Then if those work, you could test your wires back to and thru your window switch. That might eliminate that as a problem as well.

That relay is probably spendy if found. My money is on your console switch as the best odds. But I haven't won any bux on lotto lately so theres that.

PS. You've got blue font on your post. Hard for old guys to read.

Did you try cleaning the switch?

as coopster points out, your font color is hard to read. this usually happens when people cut/paste from another forum to this one (like from t4r.org). not sure how coop knows what year your runner is, as you don't note it in the title or the post. there are differences in the years, and this sub-forum covers '86 to '95, so divulging the year would be beneficial if you want some specific help. otherwise, get out your multi-meter and test the circuits for continuity and then voltage.
