What are these 5 hoses called

Hey everyone I’m wanting to replace the 5 hoses that go to the throttle body. Are they called throttle body coolant hoses? Any one have a part #s?

They are vacuum lines. Here's a kit in blue. https://www.lceperformance.com/22RE-...-p/1072440.htm

they come in all different colors it's just the first set I came up with . I went with black myself and went to 22RE performance for the power steering pump hoses. They are different from that set.

I like the Toyota vacuum tubing. It's thicker and doesn't lay on the engine like limp spaghetti. It's not cheap, but a good snug fit. Toyota sells it in varying lengths.

Isn't #5 (and the un-numbered one next to it) a coolant hose? I don't know much about the 22re.

Gee whiz, guys. The rest are just vacuum hoses. About $0.39/foot at my local OReilly's. You don't need to buy OEM, and you sure don't need to spend $30 on vacuum hoses (unless you really like the bling, in which case, knock yourself out).

Do note that the hoses (at least if they're original OEM) are labelled with numbers in white. As the manual cited by Jimkola advises, marking the replacement hoses will make your life much easier. I doubt ball point pen (black on black?) will help much, but you can pick up a cheap "paint" pen at the art supply store. You'll find lots of uses for it!

No, #5 goes to the idle speed adjustment device that determines what the idle speed changes to when the wheels are turned all the way one way or the other. The large, white, plastic screw with 2 vacuum lines that go to the power steering pump and back.

The unmarked one near #5 is the return line to the valve cover. Part of the PCV system. The PCV valve hose that goes to the throttle body is one, that one is the other. Theoretically, you need the hose from Toyota, because of the bell shaped end on it, that goes to the fitting on the valve cover. A pre-shaped hose. If you buy a generic hose that fits the fitting on the valve cover, it will be way too big to go on the throttle body correctly. If you get one that fits the throttle body, it won't fit the valve cover end.

Hope this helps a little.

Those are the 5 HOSES of the APOCALYPSE!!!!!
IF you don't use OEM hoses the YOTA gods will send electrical gremlins to wreek havoc on your rig and torment you till you've pulled all your hair out ( if you have any) and make you spend hours staring at the yotatech forum trying to figure out what the heck is going on.
Until one of the YOTATECH heros comes to your rescue... snatching you from the grip of 1st gen torture.
Welcome to yodadom ... have fun and report back on how your project is going, you know we all love a good success story!

you don't really have to use oem

Nope, you can go down to your local parts store and buy vacuum tubing off a bulk roll. It's typically not metric, but fits ok. But the 22RE uses very little vacuum tubing, at least compared to the 22R, so getting oem isn't a ball buster. To each their own.

No, you don't NEED to use the Genuine Toyota Vacuum Hose,

However...

The factory vacuum hose is actually the correct inside and outside diameter, rather than the "close enough" stuff you can buy at the auto parts store, and it lasts a long time.

Plus, the factory hose, in my opinion, just looks more professional than the "high-performance blue", "high-performance orange" silicone hoses (but the box said it adds 10+ horsepower... )

I was only indicating the one, PCV hose should be OEM. Just so that you get the two ends that are correct, since it really is 2 different sizes. One to fit onto the valve cover fitting, one to fit onto the throttle body. The one that goes from the PCV Valve to the throttle body is preformed too, with the arch in it, that prevents it from crimping closed. Might be a factor to consider. Neither one is very costly from Toyota, either. I actually got both of them from Auto Zone. The actual, Toyota, OEM, preformed, hoses, for less than $10.00 total. Not too bad, really.

PCV return line. Note 2 different sized ends.

Otherwise, yes, the generic, auto parts store vacuum lines will work. BUT, as has been mentioned, the Toyota hoses do fit correctly , as far as ID/OD, and length. Also, think about it: The factory hoses, in general lasted 30+ years, too. I think that says something about them, don't you?

Have fun sorting the 5 Hoses of the APOCALYPSE!

The big hose up front is called a breather hose, and as Pat said has 2 different diameters at each end.

I think the most important thing is getting a snug fit at the hose connections. You can buy metric hose online. Its easy to wave off having properly sized hoses but just about every automatic control on these engines is vacuum operated so Id assume the amount of airflow has an impact on performance.
