Is LC Engineering, 22RE Performance or DOA any good? Pic somewhat related.

Very happy with my 22RE Performance engine. Only had it about 7 months, maybe 10,000 miles so far. Runs good, a bit extra power over stock, mine was balanced and it runs super smooth. A bit pricey but you get peace of mind. I've also rebuilt an engine myself and after the machine shop bill and price of parts the engine I built is only slightly cheaper. I used quality parts sourced from 22RE Performance and Toyota. Obviously you can get super cheap stuff from RockAuto or an entire long block for $1,500 but the quality does not even compare. My truck had a $1,500 engine in it when I bought it. The engine only had 20,000 miles on it when I bought the truck and it blew the head gasket and cracked the head in the first year.

While I have never bought an engine from any of these companies, I have bought parts from 22RE Performance, and the quality of parts they offer (mostly OEM, with some well known aftermarket parts) and customer service was great.

I would not hesitate to purchase an engine from 22RE Performance if the need arises. They have spent much of their time making sure that their rebuilt engines will last.

I bought their Stage 2. Jim threw in balancing for free because he said they'd just bought a new machine and wanted to try it out. I can say that the balanced engine definitely runs smoother. I was actually quite surprised, I didn't expect it to make much of a difference at all.

I haven't tried Jasper, but have heard they are better with domestic engines.

I HAVE purchased from Enginebuilder AKA toyotatruckengine and I can't say strongly enough how terrible that idea was. DO NOT buy from them. I am now rebuilding the "new" engine I bought from them after 14000 miles, and when I do, I'll be using LCE and 22RE Performance for parts and a new head.
