New cams for a 3.4L???
I did some searching and didn't find a lot of specific info, so I figured I'd start a "dedicated" thread on the topic...
I have a new "gotta get me power" itch... I'm thinking I'd like to scratch it with a new set of cams for my 5VZFE.
I'm open to general comments, prices, experiences. I know that doing this on a 2.2/3.0 is "common", but what about the 3.4?
Thanks!
Mark

I was gonna comment on this when you brought it up when we were there this weekend. But, the girls had other plans for the conversation...
Anyhoo, EL Prototypes mills cams for our engines. But about the only thing that their new cams are gonna do is raise the torque curve from where it is now. Granted, there will be a HP and Torque increase, but they will both be at a higher RPM than the peaks are now. Not good for off-roading.
Maybe F2Uning might be able to do something, but even they used the stock cams in both Trager's Twin Turbo 800HP beast and NWRunner's Centrifugallly Charged engine.
That's all I got. Good luck in your search.

I have cams on my 3.4 Taco. To tell you the truth it isn't worth it to me! I will tell you the web site I sent them to when I get home. From removing the cams, sending them out and then installing them back in it costed me $1400! I could think of alot of thing to buy that put out alot more POWER!

Hmmm... okay, then it's good that I opened this up.
Yeah Z... I think Da' Women Folk didn't much like us chattin' trucks. Oh well!
sdastg1: Dropping an S/C in is a long-time dream of mine, and at $1000, that recond piece is incredibly tempting! But.... $1k becomes a lot more really quick. Fuel mods and gas prices for premium are making me look to other things right now.
Okay... case closed... No cams for me.
Thanks all!

Yeah I agree NX, S/C is definately the mod to have.
Mark, you can get the S/C and drive around with the deckplate in and that should mitigate the lean out for a little while. then as you upgrade you can open up the airflow again.

If you have an SMT already, you are out of excuses buddy!
Take some pics when you put it in.
