Wow. Poked around my old laptop and found this contacts email. Figured I'd ask if there had been any change in this problem. Didn't expect to hear back from him, but he tells me they have since discontinued production and distribution of the locks and would consider getting rid of the remaining stock in one fell swoop. I will be reasearching this possibility since I would need more info before commiting to it, depends on lots of things...

If anybody would be interested in buying one, please feel free to post here, might give me an idea of what I have to work with...

It's not definite yet. Depends on how many they have and howmuch cash I can drop. Ebay is a good idea, will check that out. I'm sure they've gone home, will post when I know what's going on...

Hey if they have a gray one or cosmetically close I'd be down for one at a fair price.

Hey guys, nothing is official yet, but let me tell you what I do know at this point. Feel free to check out the write up for pictures and some backgound. http://va4roc.com/archive.htm

Colors: available in blue or brown only, no other colors available, but you can get automotive interior stains, I used a black permanent marker.
Locks cannot be rekeyed.
Price: retail is $30, but never delivered by the locksmith that said they could get it. This would now be 1 year later.
Each comes with two matching keys.

The second gens switched to a horizontal handle I think, so this round one wont work. I'll ask if they have them when I hear back...

This is a good point, I should keep this in mind when I'm doing the math here. What do you consider a fair price?

price

It all depends on what you can get them for....I'd happily pay at least 25 bucks no questions asked. Chances are if the company is looking to get rid of them in one swoop, then you'll probablly be able to bargin for a good price/per with them. good luck...

I'm counting on getting an acceptable price per unit, my main concern is balancing the ability to pass savings on to you guys but without making too much work for myself. Next concern is I am not legally entitled to make a wholesale buy so the price might go up a bracket. $25 sounds reasonable, and that still less than retail. I'm sure it will work out.

The deal is done. I'll PM NMcruser, seaflea, foxtrapper, FSRBIKER, deathrunner, david in germany and offer you guys the first round for expressing the interest that started this off. After that I'm dropping them on ebay because I can't really monitor the sales or pack and ship every fricken one of these at once, am also thinking about going to EC4RJ at paragon, saves me time and saves buyers shipping. Hang tight!
