Hmm, that looks like a "2" to me..

I'm sorry dude, I couldn't resist! I'll see myself out...

Also interested in what those numbers mean though, good question.

Likely just some mold ID markings. Are the whole set marked the same??? Are they supposed to be oversize???

Their cylinder numbers. Each component (piston, rod, rod caps) are numbered 1-4 to indicate the cylinder.

The bores should also be marked 1, 2 or 3, to match the pistons.
