A340H to A340F behind 22RE
Before I get the search bar works....
Ive read them all and read 4x4 wire’s write up with marlin to the point I can recite it.
Before the “switch to manual” replies. If it’s more cost effective I might. But that’s pedals slave cylinders new ecu another tranny... etc. I’m 400$ out with the a340f. My H t case in 4 low is skipping gears so if I can I’d like to get away from the H and it’s Achille’s heel
The donor tranny is from a 98 3.4L 4runner. Trying to put it behind the 22RE in my 86 DLX Pickup
obstacles I’m aware of is the possible input spline count. the flex plate and TC compatibility, those are pretty straight forward to fix.
The biggest issue I can’t seem to overcome is the VSS #2 I’m aware in the 86 it’s a one pulse per rev and the 98 it’s a 4 pulse per rev.
Tranny shop I’ve contacted is too afraid to do such “precise” work.
My questions are.. can I disrupt the signal on the new sensor to read 1/4th what it should to match the stock sensor in my 1986. OR is there someone in this group of folks who’s done the swap before and have you tap the new sensors hole.
Ive contacted marlin and they claim that that their adapter will work. But there’s no info on pre 1992 for the part so I’m assuming it’s to convert a gear vss to the magnetic sensor for a 92+ rig.
Any help, advice or contacts would be appreciated.
Thanks
