Hi - draining the transmission and noted the drain plug has a cylindrical "head" and wondered what goes in the opening - I expected there to be a magnet(?) - Warily, I replaced fluid and subsequently discovered 1" spring & ball bearing in the old fluid...DOH!
Question for the brain trust: Do the spring & ball go into the drain plug? I'm searching around but thought I'd check here before draining the new fluid -
That is not the drain plug at all. that is a detent for the shifter. put some grease on the ball, stuff it back in the hole. Put spring on your holder, and reinstall. Next time drain the trans with the drain plug.
