91 22re 4x4 giving me strange idle issues.

So, it finally got cold here in Spokane Washington and my truck started acting up this week. When i cold start the truck it starts fine, then after a few minutes (2-3) the idle starts singing its own seducing rythm. I have uploaded a video of the issue and done a couple searches. I know i can start with the coolant temp sensor at a low cost and thats what I think I will do, unless one of you guys has another idea? The issue basically started with the hard frost on the windshield starting. I let the truck warm up for a few minutes because my heater only runs on speed 2 of 4, and when i come out it goes vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, at a super steady pace like someone is in the cab tapping the gas fast and light.

Once i drive to work the problem is gone.

That's the idle cut out doing that because it's idling way too high.

Remove the idle screw, and check the o-ring. Replace it if it's hard. Definitely check the resistance of the coolant temp sensor when the engine is cold. Also check for vacuum leaks.

My 92 22RE was randomly doing that any time of the year, and I finally got tired of it. It was the idle air control valve causing it. Standard Motor Products AC141(made in Japan) is the Toyota part. Rock Auto has a good price on it. Here is my thread where I recently replaced it, and it's fixed now.

Right on the money snippits! Check out all of the vacuum hoses while you are at! Jim at 22re performance sells the o-ring, LCE recently came out with a adjustable knob, or seal off the top with a bit of gasket as a temp fix to prevent it from backing out
