22r to 3.4 swap help

I've been swayed to do the swap but I have no clue where to get the engine, ECU and wiring harness if anyone has done the swap where did you get the stuff from. Also any advice is greatly appreciated. Ps. Will a g52 trans fit the 3.4?

Start watching craigslist, letgo, offer up, and any other of the for sale apps or websites in your area for Tacomas and 4runners, preferably that have been wrecked in the rear end or side and still run, then buy the whole truck. Might cost a little more up front but you won't have to hunt down all the little stuff that's needed for the swap that will nickel and dime you and delay the swap process. Then hit up chilkat for the swap engine brackets and the engine will bolt in to the frame.

You will need a R series transmission for the 3.4. The g and w series will not bolt up

Red face

Seems no one every looks or finds it

Each swap is just a little different all depends just where your skills are

22Re you need to move the engine mounts on the frame

Chillkat's mounts are stronger than the frame. I welded mine in, not going anywhere.

R151 is from the 22R-ET
R150 is from the 3VZ-FE or 5VZ-FE
Either way you go, you'll need the R150 bellhousing.

This is your best bet. Read through a lot of the build threads.

I did the same swap, so many of my pictures will be relevant (link in my signature below)

If you have a pull-a-part/picknpull/u-pull it nearby that could be a good option for a donor engine. Keep an eye out for ones that just roll onto the lot and jump on it as quick as possible. The longer it stays there the more parts that it will be missing. I bought mine from a pull-a-part. Came with a fully dressed engine, all of the accessories, harness, ECU, Evap stuff and a few other bits and pieces. I paid $420 out the door. If you find one with a transmission nab that one too. It also doesn't have to be a manual ECU and harness to work with a manual trans but it will set a check engine light. There are ways to work around that but it requires some work. It'll certainly open up your options by going with an auto donor.
