94 22re knock sensor wiring

Where can a new wire for the knock sensor be found? I posted a while back about an issue I'm having and it's the knock sensor, or likely the wire for the sensor. Where can I get a new wire with plug for sensor? I can find the v6 harness, but not much for the 22re

I purchase one for my 94 3vze from the Toyota parts department.

Yea, the 3vze is commonly found I think. I'm not finding much on the 22re. It's a single wire that appears to run into a big harness of wires.

The 3VZE has a "pigtail"; a wire about 12" (30cm) long from the knock sensor to another connector among the injectors.

I'm not sure the 22re has a separate wire like that. The diagrams I have show the knock sensor connector as just one part of the (large) engine harness.

Do you see a separate short(er) wire with connectors on both ends?

Mine was definitely a shorter wire with a connection on both ends.
One question on the 22re, does it affect how the engine runs without the knock sensor connected? I know it does on the 3vze, but I didn't think it mattered on the 4 cylinder. Obviously, the CEL will be on.

I replaced the knock sensor at lunch. I also noticed the wire had been spliced before!!! I saw some tiny wire fragments from the shielded wire sticking out and also noticed a tiny place where the spliced wire has rubbed through and was touching the little aluminum thing down there. I taped it all up good and hooked it back up and so far..knock on wood..it seems back to normal. I've only went about 5 miles so far but the lights hasn't came back on. Not sure if it was the sensor or the worn place on the wore causing interference though. If I didnt hate to, I'd replace the sensor with my old one and try again and get the 140 back for the new one

could that little wire being rubbed raw possibly have shorted the sensor and messed it up?

It certainly should. The knock sensor is there for a reason (tuning ignition advance). It isn't just to flash pretty lights.

If it was an interior wire it could. The shielding should just be connected to ground.
