i have started taking my tie rod off and have got to the point to take off the outer tie rod from adjusting sleve, this is a 1992 4runner 2nd gen, if i remove the the inner end, would i be able to use it again after? i cant get the outer one out, she old and a bit rusted, have loads of wd-40 but do you have any ideas?

 

Yes you can as long as you don`t damage the threads or the boot

WD-40 is not a very good penetrative I use Kroil myself

Once the sleeve locking bolts are loose it should come right out

 

PB Blaster is also considered to be a good penetrant. Keep in mind that you can buy all three parts (inner, outer, adjusting sleeve) for as little as $13 from RockAuto. No one on this forum likes to replace parts that CAN be re-used, but don't break a knuckle over that kind of money.

 

If you have to reuse it be careful you dint damage it. But if you have a few bucks, a lot of the time its worth the time savings. And if you get your old one out undamaged then you can jeep it as a spare.

As stated above don't use WD40 as a penetrating lube. It stands for Water Displacement 40 attempt. Kroil or PB Blaster work well. You can also try Deep Creep by Seafoam.
