Hi guys,
my brother got me a pair of power mirrors and the switch to operate them time ago.
I installed them in the doors and connected them to the door harness pigtails. That was easy. The problem's I can't find the pigtail in the dashboard harness that goes to the switch (please, see red circle).
Just what year did Dear Brother remove this from??
1988 like what you have??
Very Possible the plug your hunting for does not match what you have .
As different Vendors change so do parts
I saved my brother's life, I deserve this gift... and I'd be happy to get something more if he wants... Hey bro! if you're reading this, I'd love to SAS my 4R!
He got them almost 2 years ago from a seller from eBay, the the document in the box says "1988 89 Toyota 4Runner Truck power mirror set with control switch".
I inspected the switch, it works, and the mirrors also, I tried them connected directly to a battery.
My 4R's 1988.
The electrial wiring diagram says it's the red wire with green stripes from the radio/tape player and the antenna switch that goes to the power mirror switch. I dismounted radio, safety pad (dashboard), and everything under the instrument cluster, but I can't find a plug that fits the switch. Maybe the switch's from other year/model, as you said.
The door harnesses have the connectors for the mirrors, but the cabin harness doesn't have the connector for the switch. Confussing. I think I have to DIY a proper conection, but that must wait.
Long story short: I have installed a 'new to me' power mirror switch connected to nothing, and a pair of nice power mirrors without power! LOL!
The power mirror switch gets power from the cigarette lighter fuse, and receives ground and 5 wires from the mirrors.
I'm looking for a blue connector like the one in the first photo attached (that's not my switch, example from internet)
The switch's under the drivers ventilation grill (second photo), and I expected to see a blue connector around that area.
Hey, don't know if this'll be useful, but here is the connector location on my 89's wiring harness. Looks like it's part of the sub-loom to the driver's side of the gauge cluster loom.

Thank you! those pics're very useful. My T4R 88 22re doesn't have that blue connector, it should be near the rear window defrost switch, but it's not.
I'm looking for that blue connector to be able to modify the harness I have since I created this thread.

If you message me a mailing address, I'll hack it off and send it to you.
No, you don't. Just pull the double housing off, using a plastic lever flat lever(?). You can see the four plastic tabs in the first photo. Be gentle; they are 30-year-old brittle parts.
Use something like this panel removal set:

I took the gauge cluster bezel off and saw where you are talking about. started to pry and saw the plastic start to crack. Noped right out of that and pushed it back in. Only reason I wanted to remove it was so I could access the backlight wire on the rear window defrost switch. Not worth cracking the plastic, although I could possibly repair it with metal staples. Thanks for the reply!
